Well, imagine my surprise last week when I was going outside to the side porch walkway and was mugged by this little bird. This little bird was going nuts and flying all over the place and I am ducking her wondering what in the world is going on. Since I did not see anything, started doing what was my original intention, cleaning the windows outside. Yes, I am crazy, I decided this year to clean the windows. The week before I had done the inside of the main level, all 38 of them along with the 4 sliders. My knitting buddies thought I was nuts, my body said hey this is to be done when you are younger. So after cleaning the inside, guess what, you need to work on the outside. But, I decide to do this in little bits, not like I did when I cleaned the ones inside all in a day. As I was begining to work on the windows on the side of the house, I was removing the Wreath from the side door and I discovered this little bird's nest. Now, I figured out why I was being attacked by the little killer bird, she was just protecting her eggs. Once, I found the nest, I did not move the wreath. However, Ron and I both decided we needed to move the nest as the wreath would move around every time we would be going in and out of the house and we did not want to destroy the eggs. We have moved the nest over a little to a nice little spot that is protected in our breezeway. Momma Bird found her nest and seems to be happy with her new spot. I took a picture of the nest and looking forward to when the little birdies break out of the eggs.
Now as to the ladybugs. The roses are coming back this year, but with our crazy weather (warm then cold), I have a infest of aphids like never before. So being the quasi ecology minded person I am, decided to try some natural remedies first. We were at Home Depot and we bought 2 bags of Ladybugs. The directions say you put them out in the evening and the little ladybugs will do their thing with your plants. Hmmm, well I put them out across 5 rose buses and the next day went out to see what was going on and they were all gone!!!! Not sure if they are hiding somewhere else, some of the aphids are gone but seem to be getting some new ones, so I am now going to use the old smelly bug spray. Yes, I know it has affects but it does what I want it to do, kills those aphids!!!!
